Why is the Talkback Association important?
  • Aphasia can be an on-going, chronic problem.
  • People who have Aphasia and their families, often feel socially isolated and misunderstood by those around them.
  • They have a need for information and support soon after the stroke or brain injury.
  • They also need support after rehabilitation and Speech Therapy have finished.
  • Information is needed for people with Aphasia, their families, and for people in the community.
  • We help develop social and self-help groups and programs.

  • We promote advocacy and self- advocacy skills.
  • Most people don't know about Aphasia or how best to communicate with someone who has Aphasia.

   The Talkback Association:

  • provides support and information to people with Aphasia, families and others
  • helps to overcome isolation and misunderstanding.
