Research

Research continues into the treatment of aphasia. Here is a brief outline of some current research.

Please contact Talkback for more information.

A. Noun and verb processing in bilingual Greek-English aphasic speakers.
Maria Kambanaros

This study looks at how people with aphasia name pictures of common objects and actions associated with those objects. It is designed to help how we assess and treat Greek speaking people who have aphasia.

B. Treatment termination in chronic aphasia.
Deborah Hersh

This study is exploring how speech therapists and patients with aphasia feel about how therapy ends. It has used interviews with therapists, patients and families to get information about the impact of discharge from aphasia therapy, and to see if these groups view it differently.

C. Carer education for people with aphasia.
Joanne Murray and Anna Correll

This project has involved developing a training program to help families and friends communicate more effectively with people who have severe aphasia.
