This site contains information and brochures about stroke, treatment and research. It also has some brochures translated into other languages. The National Stroke Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to reduce the impact of stroke on the Australian community.
The South Australian Branch supports people who have suffered a stroke. Their office is located in the same building as the Talkback Association.
Stroke-a-Chord is a choir composed of stroke survivors with aphasia in Victoria. Despite their aphasia, the choir members enjoy singing together and have done several performances.
The Centre for Clinical Research Excellence (CCRE) in Aphasia Rehabilitation
The CCRE is:
- an Australia-wide research program
- funded for five years by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)
- The program seeks to develop the Australian Aphasia Rehabilitation Pathway, a set of guidelines for person-centred aphasia services.
La Trobe University – The CommuniMate Program
The CommuniMate program is a workshop-based program aimed at providing education, conversational partner training and psychosocial support for people with aphasia and their carers. This program was developed in conjunction with the Speech Pathology department at Western Health in Victoria.
The University of Queensland Aphasia Registry
- The Aphasia Registry is a database of people who have aphasia.
- This registry coordinates aphasia research at The University of Queensland.
- Aphasia registry members are:
- Given information about new research projects
- Invited to do research
- Members choose what research they want to do.

Speakability is a UK charity that supports and empowers people with Aphasia to overcome the barriers they face.
