Grant’s Story
My name is Grant. I am 56 years old.- I am a qualified Chartered Accountant.
- In 1992 I was told I had a brain tumour. I had surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I was OK for 12 months.
- Then the tumour came back. I lost my speech and movement in my right arm and leg.
- I was told I would die. I decided to live and get better … and I have.
- I like watching football (Crows of course!)
- I like a glass of red wine (not just South Australian).
- I like to get out and meet people.
- Last year I fell and broke my knee.
- I went to hospital and had surgery and was in hospital for 11 months.
- My walking is not as good as it was before the fall and I spend most of the day in my wheelchair or in bed.
- I want to get up and walk. But I have been told I have to wait a bit longer. My patience is being tested. I will not give up.
