Grant’s Story

  • My name is Grant.  I am 56 years old.
  • I am a qualified Chartered Accountant.
  • In 1992 I was told I had a brain tumour.  I had surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  I was OK for 12 months.
  • Then the tumour came back.  I lost my speech and movement in my right arm and leg.
  • I was told I would die.  I decided to live and get better … and I have.
  • I like watching football (Crows of course!)
  • I like a glass of red wine (not just South Australian).
  • I like to get out and meet people.
  • Last year I fell and broke my knee.
  • I went to hospital and had surgery and was in hospital for 11 months.
  • My walking is not as good as it was before the fall and I spend most of the day in my wheelchair or in bed.
  • I want to get up and walk.  But I have been told I have to wait a bit longer.  My patience is being tested.  I will not give up.
